Theology on Tap in November

I went to Concord last week to check out Theology on Tap, held at The Green Martini on Pleasant Street.  It was my first time going to Theology on Tap so I wasn't sure what to expect.  The venue was pretty cool, with a whole bar devoted to just our group.  I didn't know anyone when I walked in (totally different group of young adults from any of the events I had previously attended) but people weren't shy about coming up and introducing themselves so I got to meet a lot of new people.

I ordered some food, sat back and chatted with a couple of law students from the UNH law school in town.  Just about the time my food arrived, Rev. Jason Wells got up to talk about the Dead Sea Scrolls.  I had heard a lot about the Dead Sea Scrolls before, but as I listened to his talk, I realized I really didn't know that much about them. It was clear, though, the Rev. Wells did.  He talked for about forty minutes, giving us a history of the discovery of the scrolls, a quick introduction to their contents and to the community that created them and subsequently hid them in the caves.  I'll admit that I originally went to Theology on Tap hoping to just meet other young adults in my area but I was pleasantly surprised to have learned a lot too. 

After the talk the Capital Deanery Young Adult Group raffled off a bottle of wine as a door prize and I guess luck was with me that night.  I won!  So I'll be enjoying a little Shiraz for the next week or two.  Maybe I will invite a couple of my new friends over for dinner and let them share it with me. 

Too bad they don't have a Theology on Tap in December.  But they did mention another Concord event, Cafe Night, on November 22nd.  Maybe I will check that out!  Cheers, everyone!
