Friday October 21st, I decided to roam over to Caffeine and Catholicism at Beane Towne Coffee House in Hampstead, NH. I was told they meet once a month at this coffee shop to socialize and listen to a great speaker. I thoroughly enjoyed myself!
This month the speaker was Wilbanice Ayala what an amazing women of God! Since early childhood Wilbanice shared how she has been suffering from parkinsons and dystonia. This makes her muscles contract and spasm almost constantly. Despite having this very difficult disease, Wilbanice has such a wonderful outlook on life. She said she “offers up the cross she has been given every day to whoever needs her prayers.” This was so humbling.
Wilbanice also spoke of her love of the Catholic Church, particularly the writing of Blessed Pope John Paul II. Wilbancie can relate the former Pope’s suffering of Parkinson’s disease. She stated how she finds great comfort in his writings, as they have helped her to find “beauty in her suffering.”
Wilbanice was confirmed at St. Kathryn’s Parish in Hudson, NH in 2009. She said since her full communion with the Church she has been much more at peace with her situation and suffering. Wilbanice expressed her love of writing poetry and painting saying how she enjoys using “the gifts she has been given to create” citing Blessed Pope John Paul’s Letter to the Artists.
Wilbanice ended her wonderful talk by reading a beautiful poem called the Magnifcat written by Pope John Paul II. It starts with the Virgin Mary’s famous Magnifcat Line: “My soul magnify the glory of the Lord.” I felt so inspired by Wilbanice and was so happy to make it over to Caffeine and Catholicism. I joined the St. Kathryn’s Young Adult Group on facebook http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/St-Kathryn-Young-Adult-Ministry/203849179627923 and they added me to their e-mail list (saintkathrynyoungadult@gmail.com) so I can get invited to future events!
What a great group of people! They reminded me that they meet every 3rd Friday of the month!
Until next time Bon Voyage in Christ, Roamin’
